Our take

Is V4 Consumer worth it?

V4 Consumer sells Openreach full fibre and SoGEA lines across the UK on 24-month contracts. Its price rise is up to £2.95 a month every 1 April, written into the contract and smaller than the £4 many big providers add.

Set-up costs £9.95, a Wi-Fi 6 router is included and you may use your own. V4 promises a minimum guaranteed speed without saying what it is, offers no social tariff and does not publish its exit fees. If you are leaving Virgin Media, you must cancel that contract yourself.

Look elsewhere if

you want clear speed promises and exit terms before you sign.

FAQ

V4 Consumer broadband: common questions

Can I get V4 Consumer broadband at my address?

V4 Consumer sells broadband across the UK on Openreach, but the speeds you can get depend on your address. Enter your postcode in the comparison above to see the V4 Consumer deals that reach you.

What happens when my V4 Consumer contract ends?

V4 Consumer must tell you 10 to 40 days before your minimum term ends, show its best deals for you, and remind you once a year after that. Out of contract, prices are usually higher, so it pays to switch or agree a new deal.

Can I switch to or from V4 Consumer with One Touch Switch?

Yes. Since 12 September 2024 you only contact the provider you are moving to, even between networks. V4 Consumer or your old provider must tell you about any exit fees, and the gap in service should be no more than one working day.

Does V4 Consumer pay compensation when broadband goes down?

Not automatically. V4 Consumer is not part of Ofcom’s automatic compensation scheme, so you need to ask. If a complaint is not resolved in six weeks, you can take it to an ombudsman for free.

Does V4 Consumer guarantee its speeds?

A “minimum guaranteed speed” without a stated figure.
