Our take

Is Fibrus worth it?

Fibrus builds full fibre in Northern Ireland, where it reaches about 40% of premises, and in Cumbria: about 472,000 premises in all. Speeds are not symmetrical, for example 500 Mb down and 104 Mb up.

There is no price rise during the contract, set-up is free, an eero router is included and Fibrus will buy out your old contract up to £400. Out of contract, prices are £40 to £60 a month, so plan to switch or renew. Its Full Fibre Essentials social tariff costs £14.99 for 50 Mb.

Good fit if

it reaches you and you want fixed-price full fibre with a generous buy-out.

Look elsewhere if

you might forget to renew; out-of-contract prices are high.

FAQ

Fibrus broadband: common questions

Can I get Fibrus broadband at my address?

Fibrus covers northern Ireland and Cumbria on own full fibre. Enter your postcode in the comparison above to see the Fibrus deals that reach you.

What happens when my Fibrus contract ends?

Fibrus must tell you 10 to 40 days before your minimum term ends, show its best deals for you, and remind you once a year after that. Out of contract, prices are usually higher, so it pays to switch or agree a new deal.

Can I switch to or from Fibrus with One Touch Switch?

Yes. Since 12 September 2024 you only contact the provider you are moving to, even between networks. Fibrus or your old provider must tell you about any exit fees, and the gap in service should be no more than one working day.

Does Fibrus pay compensation when broadband goes down?

Not automatically. Fibrus is not part of Ofcom’s automatic compensation scheme, so you need to ask. If a complaint is not resolved in six weeks, you can take it to an ombudsman for free.

Does Fibrus guarantee its speeds?

Total Home Wi-Fi Guarantee (two eero units) on 500 Mb and 1 Gb.
